"Unrelenting disappointment leaves you heartsick, but a sudden good break can turn life around." — Proverbs 13:12 MSG
DISAPPOINTMENT begins with a subconscious reaction to a false reality. It is an emotional reaction and response to missing an APPOINTMENT; usually with your DESTINY.
One of the greatest wiles of the devil is the formation of an attack against leaders using the force of Disappointment. Once levied, it carries along with it a feeling of estrangement from a familiarity or comfort. Then next comes a need for affirmation, which then triggers a need for VALIDATION.
Pursuing the call of God without a sense of validation becomes for many a long unending road to dissatisfaction.
During childhood, validation answers the heart questions of "relevance" but during adulthood it expands into something else. For an adult male if he is not validated, he loses control of his soul. If he does not recover his soul (mind, will and emotions) quickly and stays in the valley of disappointment too long, he then loses confidence in his ability to function and perform.
A man's ego says, "A real man has to be able to perform on a certain level." If disappointment remains and validation is unachieved, then his out-of-control soul reduces this man down further to performance and his desire to please. Then this performance gets reduced to its least common denominator—the flesh. Now the door is open to sexual immorality and the need to show off his manhood though sexual performance. So, he begins his quest to conquer. Instead of territories for God, it now becomes women and bad habits. Not for love, but for honor. It doesn't matter whether or not they are real, computer-generated, two-dimensional or plastic. It's about performance and ability.
For a woman, a lack of validation breeds insecurity. The enemy of her soul convinces her that she does not possess what it takes to bring delight to someone else. So then without validation she takes on a pseudo-image or an alter ego in order to be pleasing to others. Her life now requires designer bags and other things to increase her value. Things like prayer now become insufficient to bring resolve to her heart. So, for a woman it is all about security.
In ministry, validation says that you are both qualified and accepted as a minister. If not, you backslide (figuratively, not literally) and change religions because God didn't seem to be very willing to back up your bold claims about Him and support the vision that HE gave you.
The point: guard yourself against the devastation of the DISAPPOINTMENT DILEMMA. Here is a truth! Someone will let you down and miss their appointment with you, but it won't be God.
His promise: I will NEVER leave or forsake you!
Solution: Keep your APPOINTMENTS with God! Let's remember to continue with the things that we were willing to do when we saw ourselves as being small in His eyes and we will avoid the DISAPPOINTMENT DILEMMA!
It's time to turn up the PRAYER and turn up the PRAISE!
